Alice tells us about the ‘Quarentini Painters’ :
“The Quarentini Painters were formed in March 2020 to keep artists painting and engaged during the pandemic. A friend asked if I would like to paint a subject and share photos. He then talked to more people and from there a few simple ground rules formed, subjects are chosen on Saturday by drawing out of a hat and come from a list contributed by the artists.
Each painting subject is given two hours and photos are sent at 15 minutes, one hour and two hours with the idea to be finished at two hours. Most of the painters paint the subject challenge on Wednesday from 7-9 pm. The core group of five artists are currently still painting along with more who have joined in. Check out the Facebook page and paint with us for a couple hours, you can see the new challenge every Sunday under the announcement tab, everyone is welcome!
It has been interesting to see everyone’s process, learning how the artists start and proceed through a challenge. The immediacy of the event is what adds to the challenge, at 15 minutes the painting may not look anything like the finished work, and then there is an hour and 45 minutes to build on those initial 15 minute strokes. We are a diverse group of artists, connected by a desire to improve our painting skills.”
